The Asics Gel-Lyte III “Baltic Jewel” is a special colorway of the retro performance running and lifestyle shoe designed to celebrate good fortune in the New Year. The “Baltic Jewel” honors the shoe’s Japanese heritage by looking at Daruma dolls, which are modeled after Bodhidharma, the founder of Zen or Ch’An Buddhism. The shoe’s hang tag features a bearded man that depicts the likeness of a Daruma doll. As for the shoe itself, the white mesh base is contrasted by bright teal leather overlays. The classic Asics branding on the sides is arranged in black patent leather and “Gel-Lyte III” branding appears in gold on the lateral side of the heel. “Asics” and “Gel” detailing is embroidered on the heel. The “Baltic Jewel” retains its original split-tongue construction for an added dose of retro flair.
