The Nike Blazer Mid ‘77 VNTG “Rayguns” is one of several models from Nike’s January 2021 collection and apparel that pays homage to the fictional ‘70s basketball team. The Roswell Rayguns were a fictitious basketball team created by Nike in 2002 for memorable television commercials that ran during the NBA Playoffs that year. Based loosely on various funky ABA basketball teams, the “Rayguns” theme has appeared on the Nike SB Dunk, Air Force 1, and on the Nike Kyrie 3 over the years. On this design, Nike constructs the Blazer in white leather. A groovy sequined University Gold Swoosh adorns the lateral side and a green leather Swoosh appears on the medial side. A small Rayguns basketball team logo is embroidered on the lateral heel. Orange accented “Nike” branding with a Swoosh appears on the tongue tag on the University Yellow nylon tongue. Old school “Nike” branding is located on the orange leather heel tab. A cream colored rubber sole completes the throwback look of the Nike Blazer Mid ‘77 in the “Rayguns” colorway.
