The Nike Air Foamposite One “Eggplant” is a popular colorway of the retro basketball shoe that debuted in 2009 before returning in 2024. The Air Foamposite One was originally worn by Anfernee “Penny” Hardaway in 1997 with the Orlando Magic and was later brought back by Nike as a lifestyle sneaker in the late 2000s and early 2010s. This “Eggplant” colorway was one of the shoe’s most popular styles back in the day. The modern version remains faithful to the original design, as the shoe features a slightly iridescent Varsity Purple Foamposite Shell with black synthetic nubuck overlays. A small purple Swoosh appears on the lateral side of the forefoot. Penny’s signature “1-Cent” branding with Nike is seen on the heel. Purple accented pull tabs are found on the tongue and heel. Underfoot, the shoe is finished off with an icy blue translucent rubber outsole.
